Essential oils are a great way to help relieve pain as well as help you relax. Luckily, they can be mixed with Epsom salts to enhance these therapeutic effects.
Below, we are going to show you how to mix essential oils with your bath salts so you can have a super relaxing bath. First, we are going to show you what supplies you’ll need to make these bath salts.
What you will need
You don’t need much, but what you will need is;
- Epsom salts
- Sea salt
- Baking soda
- Essential oil
- Measuring cup
Side note: Some people think that you need to mix these things into a bowl of water, you don’t do that. Instead, you mix all of these together and then place them into a jar. The only liquid you are using during the process is the essential oils.
When you want to take a bath, grab the jar, and pour some of the mixture into your bathwater.
Once you have all of the supplies, it’s time to get to mixing!
Step 1: Pour Epsom salt into a bowl
Grab and pour one cup of Epsom salt and then mix it into a bowl. To make it easier, have a cup or bowl that measures how much salt you have. This will ensure that all the measurements are correct.
You don’t want to do any guessing during this process as this can ruin the end result. Make sure the measurements are as accurate as possible.
Step 2: Add sea salt into the mix
After you added the Epsom salts, add in one cup of sea salt into the bowl. Once added, stir the two salts together. Sea salts have been shown to promote skin healing which can give you healthier-looking skin.
Sea salt can also help you relax and help you with digestion.
Tip: If you plan on using this in a bath, don’t use coarse sea salt as it can be uncomfortable when being sat on. Instead, use fine grain sea salt if you can.
Step 3: Add baking soda
Add 1/4 cup of baking soda to the bowl and mix it in. Baking soda can help the water have a more soft feel to it. If you don’t have 1/4 cup of baking soda handy, don’t fret. Using one or two tablespoons can still work pretty well.
Step 4: Add essential oils
Grab whatever essential oils you have and add around 15-20 drops into the mixture. Once you’ve done that, you will want to mix for a few minutes to make sure the oils are properly mixed into the salts.
What benefits you will get from this project will be determined by what essential oils you are using. Certain essential oils help you with stress and others help you with sleep.
Step 5: Place into the jar
Once you have ensured the oils are mixed properly into the salts, add the mixture into the jar. It’s best to try and keep the jar out of reach from children.
You may notice, that this smells pretty good. The pleasant scent is a nice little bonus to this project.
That’s all there is to it. It doesn’t take long to do this. It only required a few minutes of stirring and now you have some Epsom salts with essential oils mixed in.
Keep it stored inside of a jar so when you want to take a bath with this mixed into it, you will already have a mixture ready.
However, bath salts can make the tub slippery, so be careful when exiting the bathtub to ensure no accidents happen. Also, make sure that you aren’t allergic to any of these ingredients.
It is possible to be allergic to Epsom salts which can result in you breaking out in hives.
If you also have sensitive skin or have a skin condition like eczema, you will want to be cautious when using Epsom salts. Certain Epsom can help with eczema while others can make it worse and cause your skin to crack and bleed.
But if you don’t have sensitive skin, you know have something that will be able to help you relax. This project is very cheap and easy to mix so whenever you find yourself needed to relax, you can mix these ingredients together and take a nice soothing bath.
